Under
the ‘Malayalam Cinema Today’ category of the IFFK, 12 films will be brought to
the audience, including five slated for world premiere screening.
Along
with Soubin Shahir’s ‘Parava’ and Aashiq Abu’s ‘Mayaanadhi’, P K Bijukuttan’s
‘Recite’, Vipin Vijay’s ‘Prathibhasam’, Sumesh Lal’s ‘Humans of Someone’,
Goutham Soorya and Sudeep Elamon’s ‘Sleeplessly Yours’, Vipin Radhakrishnan’s
‘Ave Maria’, Jayaraj’s ‘Bhayanakam’, Unnikrishnan Avala’s ‘Udalazham’, Vinu A
K’s ‘Bilathikuzhal’, B Ajithkumar’s ‘Eeda’, and Binu Bhaskar’s ‘Kottayam’, will
be screened under the section. Two Malayalam films – Lijo Jose Pellissery’s
‘Ee. Ma. Yau.’, and director Zakariya’s ‘Sudani From Nigeria’ – will feature in
the ‘International Competition’ category.
Jayaraj’s
‘Vellapokkathil’ is part of the ‘The Human Spirit: Films on Hope and
Rebuilding’ package which has been included as a dedication of hope to the
state in its post-flood recovery phase. Six Malayalam films by filmmaker Lenin
Rajendran will be part of the ‘Lenin Rajendran: Chronicler of Our Times’
package.
