ലക്ഷദ്വീപിലെ ലിപിയില്ലാത്ത 'ജസരി'ഭാഷയില്‍  നിര്‍മ്മിച്ച ആദ്യ  ചലച്ചിത്രം  സിന്‍ജാര്‍ രാജ്യാന്തര  ചലച്ചിത്രമേളയുടെ 'പോട്ട്പുരി ഇന്ത്യ' വിഭാഗത്തില്‍ പ്രദര്‍ശിപ്പിക്കും. സംവിധായകനും പാമ്പള്ളി ഒരുക്കിയ ചിത്രം 2017 ലെ  മികച്ച നവാഗത സംവിധായകന്‍,  മികച്ച ജസരി ചിത്രത്തിനുള്ള ദേശീയ  പുരസ്‌കാരങ്ങള്‍ നേടിയിരുന്നു. 2014ല്‍  ഇറാഖിലെ സിന്‍ജാര്‍ പ്രവിശ്യയില്‍ നടന്ന കൂട്ടക്കൊലയില്‍ നിന്ന് രക്ഷപ്പെടുന്ന രണ്ടു യുവതികളുടെ സംഭവകഥയാണ് ചിത്രത്തിനാധാരം.  നിരവധി വിദേശ-ദേശീയ ചലച്ചിത്രമേളകളില്‍  മികച്ച പ്രതികരണം നേടിയ സിന്‍ജാറില്‍ സ്രിന്‍ഡാ അര്‍ഹാന്‍, മൈഥിലി, മുസ്തഫ, സേതുലക്ഷ്മി തുടങ്ങയവരാണ് പ്രധാന കഥാപാത്രങ്ങളെ അവതരിപ്പിക്കുന്നത്.

2009 ല്‍ സുവര്‍ണ ചകോരത്തിന് അര്‍ഹമായ എബൗട്ട് എല്ലിയിലൂടെ   മലയാളിയ്ക്ക്  പ്രിയങ്കരനായി മാറിയ ഇറാനിയന്‍ സംവിധായകന്‍ അസ്ഗര്‍ ഫര്‍ഹാദിയുടെ 'എവരിബഡി നോസ്' എന്ന സ്പാനിഷ് ചിത്രം മേളയുടെ ഉദ്ഘാടന ചിത്രമാകും. കാന്‍ മേളയുടെ ഉദ്ഘാടന ചിത്രമായിരുന്ന  എവരിബഡി നോസിന്റെ ആദ്യ ഇന്ത്യന്‍ പ്രദര്‍ശനത്തിനാകും മേള വേദിയാകുക. സഹോദരിയുടെ വിവാഹത്തിനായി അര്‍ജന്റീനയില്‍ നിന്നും സ്‌പെയിനിലെത്തുന്ന ലോറ എന്ന യുവതിയുടെ കുട്ടിയെ മോചന ദ്രവ്യമാവശ്യപ്പെട്ട് തട്ടിക്കൊണ്ട് പോകുന്നതിനെ തുടര്‍ന്നുള്ള സംഭവങ്ങളാണ് ചിത്രത്തിന്റെ പ്രമേയം. ലോറയും ദൈവം സഹായിക്കുമെന്ന പ്രതീക്ഷയില്‍ കഴിയുന്ന ഭര്‍ത്താവും  തന്റെ സമ്പാദ്യം മൊത്തം ഉപയോഗിച്ചുകൊണ്ടായാലും കുട്ടിയെ രക്ഷിക്കണം എന്ന മനോഭാവത്തോടെ ഭാര്യയുടെ എതിര്‍പ്പ് പരിഗണിക്കാതെ ഓടിയെത്തുന്ന മുന്‍കാമുകനുമാണ് പ്രധാന കഥാപാത്രങ്ങള്‍. പെനിലപ്പ് ക്രൂസ്, ഹാവിയര്‍ ബര്‍ദേം, റിക്കാര്‍ഡോ ഡാരിന്‍ എന്നിവരുടെ ഒന്നിനൊന്ന് മികച്ച അഭിനയം ചിത്രത്തെ മനോഹരമാക്കുന്നു. കാന്‍ അവാര്‍ഡിന് അര്‍ഹനാക്കിയ ബ്യുട്ടിഫുളിലെ കഥാപാത്രത്തിന് ശേഷം  ഹാവിയര്‍ ബര്‍ദേമിന്റെ മറ്റൊരു മികച്ച പ്രകടനമാണ് ചിത്രത്തില്‍ പ്രേക്ഷക

Registration for the 23 rd  International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) has been extended till December 7. Spanish psychological thriller ‘Everybody Knows’ by acclaimed Iranian filmmaker Asghar Farhadi’s will be screened at the 23 rd  edition of the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK). The film opened the 2018 Cannes Film Festival and the screening at IFFK will be its Indian Premiere. The cinematography has been handled by Jose Luis Alcaine and the cast includes Oscar award winning actors Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz. The plot revolves around a woman and her children, whose trip gets twisted due to unforeseen events, revealing untold truths. Farhadi, the two time Best Foreign Language Film Oscar Award winning filmmaker and screenwriter, has had his films screened multiple times at the IFFK, and is a favourite among the cinephiles at the festival. He received the Golden Crow Pheasant for Best Film for ‘About Elly’ at the 2009 IFFK. In the wake of attacks against women, the 2018 film directed by Hannes Baumgartner, ‘Midnight Runner’, will reach the audience at the 23 rd  International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK).   The debut directorial of Baumgartner is a drama on a well-known top athlete who evolves into a serial offender, thanks to his various courses of life. The fact that the entire story is based on the real life and ways of a person makes it a deep-sea excavation of the complexities and internal conflicts of human mind. It reflects the hypocrisy and duality of the person, thus giving a statement on the entire mankind. It, from the eyes of the sportsman turned criminal, screens his life and his ways, thereby taking the audience into the roots of the violence dealt against women. When the man uses his fame and popularity as a mask for domination, it is a wake-up call for all of us. The film will be screened under the World Films category.

Under the ‘Potpourri India’ package, International Film Festival of Kerala will screen the National Film Award winning film ‘Sinjar’ which speaks the script-less Lakshadweep language Jasari. The film written and directed by debutant director Pampally, won the Best Feature Film in Jasari, and Best Debut Film of a Director awards at the 65 th National Film Awards. It received wide acclaim at various international film festivals, and has in its cast Sindra Arhaan, Mythili, Mustafa, and Sethulakshmi. The first film to be made in the islands is ‘based on events that followed the 2014 massacre at Sinjar’. The 2014 Sinjar Massacre, was the genocidal killing and abduction of thousands of Yazidis in the Iraqi city of Sinjar, by the terror group ISIS. The film narrates the tale of two women from the islands, escape from the nightmares of brutal captivity. മനുഷ്യനിലെ മൃഗീയതയും അതിന്റെ ഭാവിയും ചര്‍ച്ചാ വിഷയമാകുന്ന കിം കി ദക്കിന്റെ പുതിയ ചിത്രം 'ഹ്യൂമന്‍,സ്‌പേസ്,ടൈം ആന്‍ഡ് ഹ്യൂമന്‍'  മേളയില്‍ പ്രദര്‍ശനത്തിനെത്തും. മേളയുടെ ലോകസിനിമാ വിഭാഗത്തിലാണ് ദക്കിന്റെ 23-ാമത്  സംവിധായന സംരംഭമായ ചിത്രം പ്രദര്‍ശിപ്പിക്കുക. നൂറോളം യാത്രക്കാരുമായി ഉല്ലാസയാത്രയ്ക്ക് പുറപ്പെടുന്ന ഒരു കപ്പലില്‍ നടക്കുന്ന മനുഷ്യത്വ വിരുദ്ധമായ അക്രമങ്ങളാണ് ചിത്രത്തിന്റെ ആദ്യഭാഗത്ത്. പെട്ടന്നൊരു ദിവസം യാത്രികര്‍ ഉറക്കമുണരുമ്പോള്‍  ആകാശത്ത് അകപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുകയാണ് കപ്പല്‍, കുടിവെള്ളവും ആഹാരമുള്‍പ്പെടെ കുറഞ്ഞുവരികയും .. നോഹയുടെ പെട്ടകത്തില്‍ എന്നപോലെ മനുഷ്യന്റെ സൂക്ഷ്മരൂപമായി മാറുകയാണ് ആ കൂട്ടം. അതിജീവനത്തിനായി യാതൊരു ധാര്‍മ്മികതയുമില്ലാതെ പരസ്പരം പോരടിക്കുന്ന മാനുഷികതയിലെ വീഴ്ചയെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള ഓര്‍മപ്പെടുത്തലാണ് ചിത്രം. മോബിയസ്, പിയാത്തെ തുടങ്ങിയ ചൊടിപ്പിക്കുകയും ചോദിപ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്ന ദക് ചിത്രങ്ങളുടെ രൂപപരമായ  തുടര്‍ച്ചയായി കണക്കാക്കാവുന്ന ചിത്രം സമ്മിശ്ര പ്രതികരണങ്ങളോടെയാണ് ബെര്‍ലിന്‍ അടക്കമുള്ള മേളകളില്‍ പ്രേക്ഷകര്‍ സ്വീകരിച്ചത്.

ദക്ഷിണാഫ്രിക്കന്‍ മുന്‍ പ്രസിഡന്റ് നെല്‍സണ്‍ മണ്ടേലയുടെ ജന്മശതാബ്ദി വര്‍ഷത്തില്‍ ജസ്റ്റിന്‍ ചാഡ്വിക്കിന്റെ 'മണ്ടേല- ലോങ്ങ് വാക് ടു ഫ്രീഡം' ചലച്ചിത്രമേളയില്‍ പ്രദര്‍ശിപ്പിക്കും'. ഹോപ്പ് ആന്‍ഡ് റിബില്‍ഡിങ്ങ് വിഭാഗത്തിലാണ് മണ്ടേലയുടെ ആത്മകഥയെ ആധാരമാക്കി ഒരുക്കിയ  ചിത്രം പ്രദര്‍ശിപ്പിക്കുക. 2013 ല്‍ ടൊറന്റോ രാജ്യാന്തര ചലച്ചിത്രമേളയിലാണ് ചിത്രം ആദ്യം പ്രദര്‍ശിപ്പിച്ചത്. കറുത്തവര്‍ഗക്കാരുടെ സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യത്തിന് വേണ്ടി ജീവിതം ഉഴിഞ്ഞുവച്ച  ഇതിഹാസപുരുഷനാണ് മണ്ടേല. ദക്ഷിണാഫ്രിക്കയുടെ  ആദ്യ കറുത്ത വര്‍ഗ്ഗക്കാരനായ പ്രസിഡന്റായി മണ്ടേല തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ടതോടെ  വലിയൊരു  നവോത്ഥാനത്തിനാണ് രാജ്യം സാക്ഷ്യം വഹിച്ചത്. ചിത്രത്തില്‍  ഇഡ്രിസ് എല്‍ബയാണ്   മണ്ടേലയായി വേഷമിടുന്നത്. കേരളത്തിന്റെ പുനര്‍ നിര്‍മ്മിതിക്കായി നാം കൈകോര്‍ക്കുന്ന വേളയില്‍, നെല്‍സണ്‍ മണ്ടേല എന്ന സമര നായകനെയും വര്‍ണവിവേചനത്തിനെതിരെ മണ്ടേലക്കൊപ്പം ഒരുമയോടെ പോരാടിയ   ഒരു ജനതയെയും കുറിച്ചുള്ള ഓര്‍മ്മപ്പെടുത്തല്‍ കൂടി ആയാണ്  ചിത്രം ഈ വിഭാഗത്തില്‍  പ്രദര്‍ശിപ്പിക്കുന്നത്.

നല്ല സിനിമകള്‍ എന്ന ലക്ഷ്യത്തില്‍ വിട്ടുവീഴ്ചയില്ലാതെയാണ് ഇക്കുറിയും കേരള രാജ്യാന്തരമേള സജ്ജമാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നതെന്ന് ചലച്ചിത്ര അക്കാദമി ചെയര്‍മാന്‍ കമല്‍ പറഞ്ഞു. മേളയുടെ നടത്തിപ്പ് ലളിതമായിട്ടാണെങ്കിലും സിനിമകളുടേയോ തീയേറ്ററുകളുടേയോ കാര്യത്തില്‍ യാതൊരും വിട്ടുവീഴ്ചയും ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല. അടുത്തകാലത്ത് ഇറങ്ങിയിട്ടുള്ള മികച്ച സിനിമകളാണ് മേളയില്‍ പ്രദര്‍ശിപ്പിക്കുന്നത്.  ലോകോത്തര നിലവാരമുള്ളവയും വിശ്വപ്രസിദ്ധ സംവിധായകരുടേയും ചിത്രങ്ങളാണ് ലോകസിനിമാ വിഭാഗത്തില്‍ ഉള്‍പ്പെടുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നത്. ജാഫര്‍ പനാഹി, ഗൊദാര്‍ദ് തുടങ്ങിയ പ്രശസ്ത ചലച്ചിത്രകാരന്മാരുടെ ചിത്രങ്ങള്‍ക്കൊപ്പം മേളയിലെ താരം എന്ന് മലയാളികള്‍ വിശേഷിപ്പിക്കാറുള്ള കിം കി ദക്കിന്റെ ഏറ്റവും പുതിയ സിനിമയും മേളയില്‍ പ്രദര്‍ശിപ്പിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. പ്രളയ ദുരന്തത്തിന്റെ പശ്ചാത്തലത്തില്‍ ആഘോഷങ്ങള്‍ ചുരുക്കിയാണ് ഇത്തവണ മേള നടത്തുന്നത്. ഡെലിഗേറ്റ് ഫീസായും സ്‌പോണ്‍സര്‍ഷിപ്പിലൂടെയും സമാഹരിക്കുന്ന പണം ഉപയോഗിച്ചാണ് ചലച്ചിത്ര  മേള സംഘടിപ്പിക്കുന്നതെന്നും കമല്‍ വ്യക്തമാക്കി.

Films by four women at its helms will compete with 10 others in the International Competition category at the 23rd edition of the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK).  Turkish film ‘Debt’ directed by filmmaker and actress Vuslat Saracoglu, writer and director Beatriz Seigner’s ‘The Silence’, Argentine actress and filmmaker Monica Lairana’s ‘The Bed’, and Indian theatre artist Anamika Haksar’s ‘Taking The Horse To Eat Jalebis’ are the films that will face the contest. ‘Debt’ which narrates the tale of a family that decides to host a sick neighbor, won the National Competition Golden Tulip for Best Film at the Istanbul Film Festival. In a mark of respect to South African anti-apartheid revolutionary and philanthropist, Nelson Mandela, the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) will screen the 2013 film ‘Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom’. The screening coincides the occasion marking the birth centenary of the South African president, a colossal figure in tackling institutionalized racism. The British-South American biographical film directed by Justin Chadwick is based on his 1995 autobiographical book ‘Long Walk to Freedom’. The film produced by David M Thompson and Anant Singh, has its screenplay written by William Nicholson. Lol Crawley mans the camera, and the important cast includes Idris Elba who plays Mandela, and Naomie Harris. It is a detailed chronicle of Mandela's early age, his education, to his 27 years in prison, and integrating the segregated society, as the President of the nation and as the ‘Father of the Nation’. Famed Vasanth S Sai’s Tamil anthology film ‘Sivaranjiniyum Innum Sila Pengalum’ will be screened at the 23 rd  International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK). Parvathy Thiruvoth, along with Kalieswari Sreenivasan and Lakshmi Priyaa Chandramouli, portray the prominent roles in the film. It interlaces three female-centric short stories written by Jeyamohan, Adhavan, and Ashokamitran. The film depicts the casual sexism and entrenched misogyny in the life of women. It is a tale of three women and their awakenings to identity, space, and self-worth, unfolding across three different time periods. It notably has no music score, and in many phases, silence has been used effectively to represent the isolation and separation in a woman’s life. The film will be screened under the ‘Indian Cinema Now’ category.

Cinephiles will be treated to two world renowned film experiences from Iran at the 23 rd International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK). The Islamic epic ‘Muhammad: The Messenger of God’ by IFFK jury chairman Majid Majidi and Jafar Panahi’s ‘3 Faces’ will be screened at the festival. The widely acclaimed Iranian films, popular among film festival audience are sure to entice those at the Kerala festival as well. Muhammad, which is the biggest-budget production in Iranian Cinema, revolves around the Islamic prophet Muhammad’s childhood. Two sequels, portraying the later phases the prophet’s life, have been planned. The film co-written and co-produced by Majidi has its scores set by musical maestro A R Rahman. Six Indian films are in the 'Potpourri India’ basket at the 23rd edition of the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK).  The special package has been designed to bring a mix of variety of films from across the country.  The highlight of the chosen lot is Rima Das's ‘Bulbul Can Sing’, which was highly acclaimed at its premier at the Toronto International Film Festival. The Assamese filmmaker rose to fame and recognition with her debut feature film ‘Village Rockstars’, which she wrote, co-produced, directed, cinematographed, and edited. The film which won the National Film Award for Best Film and is India’s official entry to the 91st Academy Awards, was screened at the 22nd IFFK. Jasari language film ‘Sinjar’ which won director Sandeep Pampally the National Film Award for Best Debut Film for direction, is also in the category. Media personnel including freelance journalists can register their passes either by paying at the Chalachitra Academy or by online. The facility has been extended till November 30, said Mahesh Panju, Secretary, Chalachitra Academy. Six films directed by versatile Malayalam filmmaker Lenin Rajendran will be screened at the 23rd International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK). The ‘Lenin Rajendran: Chronicler of Our Times’ package at the IFFK will feature Rajendran's ‘Meenamasathile Sooryan’ which tables the anti-feudal upheavals of the 1940s and ‘Swathi Thirunal’ based on the story of the 19th century Travancore King. ‘Daivathinte Vikrithikal’, the recipient of 1992 Kerala State Film Award for Best Film, 'Chillu’ which depicts fragile relationships in life and a murder mystery, ‘Mazha’ based on the Madhavikkutty short story ‘Nashtappetta Neelambari’, and ‘Vachanam’ are the other films included in the package.  His films are widely regarded for their portrayal of the contemporary socio-political scenarios.

Six films including two Oscar winners by Milos Forman will be screened at the 23rd International Film Festival of Kerala under the ‘Remembering the Master’ package. Forman, the Czech-American filmmaker whose films challenged the norms of Hollywood, was iconic in establishing the Czechoslovakian New Wave.  His films were screened in festivals around the globe and won prominent awards like the Academy Awards, BAFTA, and Golden Globes.  Forman's films that undermined authority with a satirical bent and political stance were the least welcomed in his homeland. ‘One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest’ is a comedy drama directed by Forman which portrays the story of a rebel criminal who pleads insanity to avoid punishment. ‘Amadeus’, a period drama, of 1984 is a fictionalized biography of renowned composer of the classical era, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Four films including the Iranian Islamic epic film 'Muhammad: The Messenger of God’, will be screened at the 23rd International Film Festival of Kerala.  The film by Iranian filmmaker and IFFK jury panel head Majid Majidi falls under the Jury Films' category at the IFFK along with three others by fellow jury members. ‘Muhammad’, one of the most prominent Iranian films of all time, has its scores composed by A R Rahman.  The screening will be the Indian premiere of ‘Dark is the Night’, directed by the world renowned filmmaker Adolfo Alix Jr. His debut feature, ‘Donsol’, was the official Philippines selection at the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. The multiple National Film Award winning director Vetrimaaran’s ‘Vada Chennai’, and Marathi filmmaker Umesh Vinayak Kulkarni’s ‘Highway’ are the other films in the category.

Renowned Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi will be the Jury Chairman for the International Competition category at the 23rd International Film Festival of Kerala. Majidi's 2015 film, 'Muhammad: The Messenger of God', which revolves around the childhood of Islamic prophet Muhammad, will be screened at the festival.  Indian maestro A R Rahman is the music director of the film which is the biggest - budget production in the history of Iranian Cinema.  Tamil filmmaker Vetrimaaran, Marathi film director Umesh Kulkarni, Filipino filmmaker Adolfo Alix Jr., and Sri Lankan actress and short-filmmaker Sumathy Sivamohan are the other members of the Jury panel. Vetrimaaran's 'Vadachennai', Umesh Kulkarni's 'Highway', and Adolfo Alix Jr.'s 'Dark is the Night' will also be part of the Jury films' package. 

For film enthusiasts, 23rd International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) brings a golden opportunity to watch some of the great films of Ingmar Bergman. Bergman, one of the giants of world cinema, doesn’t need any introduction among film lovers across the world. The Swedish director, who had a deep understanding of the human conditions and the layers of emotions, mostly dealt with the universal ideas of guilt, death, loneliness, and God’s silence in his films. He left a unique imprint on each of his films. Bergman’s films were influenced by Freudian theories and the multiple Oscar winning directors’ works are is still screened around the globe. This year marks the centenary of the maestro, who directed over 60 films. 23rd IFFK will commemorate the legendary filmmaker. പ്രളയം ദുരന്തം വിതച്ച ജീവിതങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് അതിജീവനപാഠമൊരുക്കി രാജ്യാന്തര ചലച്ചിത്രമേളയില്‍ 160 ലധികം ചിത്രങ്ങള്‍. പ്രതിസന്ധികളെ അതിജീവിച്ച് മുന്നേറാന്‍ അഞ്ച് ചിത്രങ്ങളടങ്ങിയ 'ദ  ഹ്യുമന്‍ സ്പിരിറ്റ് : ഫിലിംസ് ഓണ്‍ ഹോപ്പ് ആന്‍ഡ് റിബില്‍ഡിങ്ങ്' വിഭാഗമുള്‍പ്പടെ 11 വിഭാഗങ്ങളാണ് മേളയില്‍ ഒരുക്കിയിട്ടുള്ളത്. ദുരന്തങ്ങളെ അതിജീവിച്ചവരില്‍ നിന്നും ഊര്‍ജ്ജം ഉള്‍ക്കൊണ്ട് നിര്‍മ്മിച്ച ചിത്രങ്ങളുടെ പ്രത്യേക പാക്കേജ് ഇതിലുള്‍പ്പെടും. മെല്‍ ഗിബ്‌സണ്‍ന്റെ 'അപ്പോകാലിപ്‌റ്റോ', ജയരാജിന്റെ 'വെള്ളപ്പൊക്കത്തില്‍ ', ഫിഷര്‍ സ്റ്റീവന്‍സിന്റെ 'ബിഫോര്‍ ദി ഫ്‌ലഡ്', 'മണ്ടേല: ലോങ്ങ് വാക്ക് ടു ഫ്രീഡം' തുടങ്ങിയ ആറ് ചിത്രങ്ങളാണ് ഈ വിഭാഗത്തില്‍ പ്രദര്‍ശിപ്പിക്കുക. നഷ്ടബോധവും വേര്‍പാടും തളര്‍ത്തിയ ജീവിതങ്ങള്‍ക്ക്  അതിജീവനത്തിന്റെ  സന്ദേശം പകരുകയെന്നതാണ് മേളയുടെ പ്രമേയം. അഞ്ചു ഭൂഖണ്ഡങ്ങളിലെ 72 രാജ്യങ്ങളില്‍ നിന്നുള്ള ചിത്രങ്ങളുടെ അഭ്രകാഴ്ചയാണ് രാജ്യാന്തര ചലച്ചിത്രമേളയില്‍ ഒരുക്കിയിട്ടുള്ളത്. ലോകസിനിമാ വിഭാഗത്തിലെ 92 ചിത്രങ്ങളടക്കം  160 ലധികം ചിത്രങ്ങളാണ് ഇത്തവണ പ്രദര്‍ശിപ്പിക്കുക. അ

11 വിഭാഗങ്ങളിലായി 150 ല്‍ അധികം ചിത്രങ്ങളുമായി 23-ാമത് രാജ്യാന്തര ചലച്ചിത്രമേള ഒരുങ്ങുന്നു. 2 മലയാള ചിത്രങ്ങള്‍ ഉള്‍പ്പെടെ മത്സര വിഭാഗത്തില്‍ 14 ചിത്രങ്ങളാണുള്ളത്. ഇന്ത്യന്‍ സിനിമാവിഭാഗത്തില്‍ 7 ചിത്രങ്ങളും മലയാള സിനിമാ വിഭാഗത്തില്‍ 12 സിനിമകളുമാണ് ഈ വര്‍ഷമുള്ളത്. ചെലവ് ചുരുക്കലിന്റെ ഭാഗമായി മുന്‍ വര്‍ഷങ്ങളില്‍ നിന്ന് വ്യത്യസ്തമായി ഒരു ദിവസം കുറച്ചാണ്  ചലച്ചിത്രമേള സജ്ജമാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നത്. പ്രതീക്ഷയും പുനരുദ്ധാരണവും എന്ന വിഭാഗം മേളയുടെ പ്രധാന സവിശേഷതകളിലൊന്നാണ്. ലോകസിനിമയില്‍ നിന്നും പ്രതീക്ഷയുടെ നവവസന്തം വിരിയിക്കുന്ന തലത്തിലുള്ള ചിത്രങ്ങളാണ് ഈ വിഭാഗത്തില്‍ വരുന്നത്. മുന്‍കാലങ്ങളിലെപോലെ ഓപ്പണ്‍ഫോറം, മീറ്റ് ദി പ്രസ്, ഇന്‍ കോണ്‍വെര്‍സേഷന്‍ തുടങ്ങിയ സെഷനുകളും ഇത്തവണയും മേളയുടെ ഭാഗമാണ്. ലെനിന്‍ രാജേന്ദ്രന്‍, മിലോസ് ഫോര്‍മാന്‍ എന്നീ സംവിധായകരുടെ ചിത്രങ്ങള്‍ പ്രദര്‍ശിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിനായി പ്രത്യേക വിഭാഗം തന്നെ ഒരുക്കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. ലോകസിനിമാ വിഭാഗത്തില്‍ 90 സിനിമകളാണ് ഈ കൊല്ലം ഉള്‍പ്പെടുത്തിയിട്ടുള്ളത്.

Arrangements have been made at the Chalachitra Academy for the payment for the registration for the 23rd International Film Festival of Kerala. Online registrations will continue till November 30. Delegates can register for the fest, by reaching the Academy office at Sasthamangalam, between 09:30 AM and 06:00 PM with their photo, identification card, and the delegate registration fee of Rs 2000. The request forms can be collected from the office. Student passes are available at a registration fee of Rs 1000. Passes will be distributed at the Tagore Theatre later.

As the state is steadily recovering from the ravages of the flood, the 23rd International Film Festival of Kerala, which commences on 7th December, will feature over 160 films from 72 countries. 11 packages of films including 'The Human Spirit: Films on Hope and Rebuilding' which reflects the efforts of overcoming struggles, will be screened as part of the festival. The category includes six films - Jayaraj's 'Vellapokkathil', Mel Gibson's 'Apocalypto', Benh Zeitlin's 'Beasts of The Southern Wind', Fisher Steven's 'Before The Flood', Justin Chadwick's 'Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom', and Wim Wenders's 'Pope Francis: A Man of His Word'. Kerala, though was struck hard by the unexpected rainfall and deluge, thanks to its united, systematic approach and response, is racing up the lane of recovery.
