Remembering the Master: Milos Forman films to be screened at IFFK

Six films including two Oscar winners by Milos Forman will be screened at the 23rd International Film Festival of Kerala under the ‘Remembering the Master’ package.

Forman, the Czech-American filmmaker whose films challenged the norms of Hollywood, was iconic in establishing the Czechoslovakian New Wave.

His films were screened in festivals around the globe and won prominent awards like the Academy Awards, BAFTA, and Golden Globes.

Forman's films that undermined authority with a satirical bent and political stance were the least welcomed in his homeland.

‘One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest’ is a comedy drama directed by Forman which portrays the story of a rebel criminal who pleads insanity to avoid punishment. ‘Amadeus’, a period drama, of 1984 is a fictionalized biography of renowned composer of the classical era, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Both fetched him the Oscar for Best Director.

The other Forman films included in the category are ‘Black Peter’, ‘The Firemen’s Ball’, ‘Audition’, and ‘Loves of a Blonde’.
