11 വിഭാഗങ്ങളിലായി 150 ല് അധികം ചിത്രങ്ങളുമായി 23-ാമത് രാജ്യാന്തര ചലച്ചിത്രമേള ഒരുങ്ങുന്നു. 2 മലയാള ചിത്രങ്ങള് ഉള്പ്പെടെ മത്സര വിഭാഗത്തില് 14 ചിത്രങ്ങളാണുള്ളത്. ഇന്ത്യന് സിനിമാവിഭാഗത്തില് 7 ചിത്രങ്ങളും മലയാള സിനിമാ വിഭാഗത്തില് 12 സിനിമകളുമാണ് ഈ വര്ഷമുള്ളത്. ചെലവ് ചുരുക്കലിന്റെ ഭാഗമായി മുന് വര്ഷങ്ങളില് നിന്ന് വ്യത്യസ്തമായി ഒരു ദിവസം കുറച്ചാണ് ചലച്ചിത്രമേള സജ്ജമാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നത്. പ്രതീക്ഷയും പുനരുദ്ധാരണവും എന്ന വിഭാഗം മേളയുടെ പ്രധാന സവിശേഷതകളിലൊന്നാണ്. ലോകസിനിമയില് നിന്നും പ്രതീക്ഷയുടെ നവവസന്തം വിരിയിക്കുന്ന തലത്തിലുള്ള ചിത്രങ്ങളാണ് ഈ വിഭാഗത്തില് വരുന്നത്. മുന്കാലങ്ങളിലെപോലെ ഓപ്പണ്ഫോറം, മീറ്റ് ദി പ്രസ്, ഇന് കോണ്വെര്സേഷന് തുടങ്ങിയ സെഷനുകളും ഇത്തവണയും മേളയുടെ ഭാഗമാണ്. ലെനിന് രാജേന്ദ്രന്, മിലോസ് ഫോര്മാന് എന്നീ സംവിധായകരുടെ ചിത്രങ്ങള് പ്രദര്ശിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിനായി പ്രത്യേക വിഭാഗം തന്നെ ഒരുക്കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. ലോകസിനിമാ വിഭാഗത്തില് 90 സിനിമകളാണ് ഈ കൊല്ലം ഉള്പ്പെടുത്തിയിട്ടുള്ളത്.
“Those who ban films, have not seen the films. As for ‘Muhammad’ (Muhammad: The Messenger of God), I don’t even know what is wrong.
