Majid Majidi to be IFFK Jury Chairman

Renowned Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi will be the Jury Chairman for the International Competition category at the 23rd International Film Festival of Kerala. Majidi's 2015 film, 'Muhammad: The Messenger of God', which revolves around the childhood of Islamic prophet Muhammad, will be screened at the festival.

Indian maestro A R Rahman is the music director of the film which is the biggest - budget production in the history of Iranian Cinema.

Tamil filmmaker Vetrimaaran, Marathi film director Umesh Kulkarni, Filipino filmmaker Adolfo Alix Jr., and Sri Lankan actress and short-filmmaker Sumathy Sivamohan are the other members of the Jury panel. Vetrimaaran's 'Vadachennai', Umesh Kulkarni's 'Highway', and Adolfo Alix Jr.'s 'Dark is the Night' will also be part of the Jury films' package.

IFFK Closing Ceremony Today (Dec 13)

The 23 rd edition of the International Film Festival of Kerala, after a week of film-viewing experience, will come to an end today (Dec 13) evening. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the Closing Ceremony in Nishagandhi Auditorium at 6 PM. A K Balan, Minister for Welfare for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes, Law, Culture and Parliamentary Affairs, will preside over the ceremony. V S Sunil Kumar, Minister for Agriculture will be the Chief Guest. A K Balan will distribute the Media Awards. No Shave November: Kamal Flags Off Motorcycle Awareness Rally

A motorcycle awareness rally, organized by No Shave November India headed by Raru Chempazanthy, was flagged off by Kamal, Chairman, Kerala State Chalachitra Academy. The rally which started from Tagore Theatre, Trivandrum, will have riders travelling to Kasargod and back in eight days, with the mission of raising funds of 15 lakhs for a noble cause – a liver transplantation for a four-year old. Raru, who initiated No Shave November in India, will lead the mission along with Shiny, the first woman rider to ride from Kanyakumari to Himalaya. Raru will ride the entire course, while others including rider club and beard club members will join on the way. The rally will come to a close on December 20. Raru established No Shave November India four years back along with his friend Antos, aiming to help fund cancer treatment.
