10 Competition Screenings today (Dec 12)


On the sixth day (Dec 12) of the 23rd IFFK, 11 films will be screened under International Competition.
Five of the films including ‘Sudani from Nigeria’ (Kairali, 11:30 AM) will have their final screenings today. ‘Tale of the Sea’ (Kairali, 9 AM), ‘The Graveless’ (Kairali, 3 PM), ‘The Silence’ ‘Tale of the Sea’ (Kairali, 6 PM), ‘El Angel’ (Tagore, 8 PM), ‘Widow of Silence’ (Dhanya, 9:30 AM), ‘Debt’ (Dhanya, 3 PM), ‘The Bed’ (Dhanya, 6 PM), ‘The Dark Room’ (New Screen 2, 6 PM), ‘The Red Phallus’ (New Screen 3, 3:15 PM), and ‘Poisonous Roses’ (Sree Padmanabha, 6 PM), will be screened today.
‘Donbass’ directed by Sergey Loznitsa will be screened at Dhanya at 8:30 PM today.
Under the World Cinema Category, 33 films including the last screenings of ‘Non Fiction’, ‘Dogman’, ‘Roma’, ‘Yuli’, ‘Die Tomorrow’ will be screened. ‘One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest’ and ‘The Firemen’s Ball’ will be screened under ‘Remembering the Master: Milos Forman’, Ingmar Bergman’s ‘Fanny and Alexander’, and Lenin Rajendran’s ‘Vachanam’ will have their only screenings.

മലയാള സിനിമയിലെ ഒരു നടിക്കുണ്ടായ ദുരനുഭവം സ്ത്രീ സമൂഹത്തിന് ആകെയുണ്ടായ അപമാനമാണെന്ന് ചലച്ചിത്ര നിരൂപകയായ മീനാക്ഷി ഷെഡ്ഡെ. അതിനെതിരെ സിനിമാരംഗത്തു നിന്നുണ്ടായ എതിര്‍ശബ്ദങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് താന്‍ പിന്തുണ പ്രഖ്യാപിക്കുന്നതായും അവര്‍ പറഞ്ഞു. രാജ്യാന്തര ചലച്ചിത്ര മേളയുടെ ഭാഗമായി ഇന്ത്യന്‍ സിനിമയിലെ സ്ത്രീ സ്വാധീനം എന്ന വിഷയത്തില്‍ നടന്ന ഓപ്പണ്‍ ഫോറത്തില്‍ സംസാരിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു അവര്‍. മലയാള സിനിമയിലെ വനിതാകൂട്ടായ്മയായ ഡബ്ലൂ.സി.സിയുടെ പ്രവര്‍ത്തനങ്ങള്‍ ചലച്ചിത്രരംഗത്ത് പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്ന സ്ത്രീകള്‍ക്ക് ധൈര്യം പകരുന്നുണ്ട്. ഈ മാതൃക മറ്റ് സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളിലെ വനിതാ ചലച്ചിത്രപ്രവര്‍ത്തകരും പിന്തുടരണമെന്നും അവര്‍ അഭ്യര്‍ത്ഥിച്ചു. അപമാനങ്ങളെ ചോദ്യം ചെയ്യാന്‍ മീ ടു കാമ്പയിന്‍ സ്ത്രീ സമൂഹത്തിനാകെ ശക്തിനല്‍കുന്നുണ്ടെന്നും അവര്‍ വ്യക്തമാക്കി.  മലയാള സിനിമയില്‍ സൃഷ്ടിക്കപ്പെടുന്ന സ്ത്രീ കഥാപാത്രങ്ങള്‍ ഇവിടുത്തെ സ്ത്രീ സമൂഹത്തിന്റെ പ്രതീകങ്ങളാണെന്നും ഓപ്പണ്‍ ഫോറത്തില്‍ പങ്കെടുത്ത ഉമാ ദാ കുന്‍ഹ പറഞ്ഞു. അസ്സമീസ് സംവിധായികയായ ബോബി ശര്‍മ്മ പങ്കെടുത്ത ചര്‍ച്ചയില്‍  എഴുത്തുകാരി മീന ടി പിള്ള മോഡറേറ്ററായിരുന്നു...

IFFK invites Media Awards entries

Applications for the Media Awards organized in association with the 23 rd IFFK are invited. Media including newspaper, radio, television and online can submit the copies of news reports at the Media Cell in the Tagore theatre before 8 PM today (Dec 12). Award categories for best photographer and cameraperson are included this year. Audio-visual media must provide two copies of the news reports in pen drive and print media must submit three original copies of the newspaper, in which the stories are printed. Entries for photography awards must submit three original newspapers, in which the photographs are being printed. Online applicants can submit their nominations through pen drives or send their stories’ web links to the email id iffkmediaawards2018@gmail.com . Letter from the concerned Chief Editor/ Bureau Chief of the respective media must be produced with the submission. Online media must include the web links along with the letter.
