Sunday (09 December) Films: 63 screenings at the IFFK



·         First of the three screenings of Ee.Ma.Yau at the fest.
·         Six competition films.

A total of 63 films will be screened on the third day (Dec 9) of the 23rd International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK), under various categories.

Six films in International Competition, including Lijo Jose Pellissery’s ‘Ee.Ma.Yau’ which will have the first of its three screenings at the fest, are set to reach the cinephiles.

Monica Lairana’s ‘The Bed’, Mostafa Sayari’s ‘The Graveless’, Tashi Gyeltshen’s ‘The Red Phallus’, Luis Ortega’s ‘El Angel’, and Temirbek Birnazarov’s ‘Night Accident’ are the other competition films.

18 films under the World Cinema category in various theatres, including ‘Jumpman’ and ‘Midnight Runner’, will have their last screenings at the fest. Kim Ki-duk’s ‘Human Space, Time, and Human’, and Lars von Trier’s ‘The House That Jack Built’ will be brought to the audience in the Nishagandhi. 

Under different categories, four films – Ingmar Bergman’s ‘Summer With Monika’, Umesh Kulkarni’s ‘Highway’, Benh Zeitlin’s ‘Beasts of the Southern Wild’, and Lenin Rajendran’s ‘Chillu’ – will have their only screenings.

The 23 rd edition of the International Film Festival of Kerala, after a week of film-viewing experience, will come to an end today (Dec 13) evening. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the Closing Ceremony in Nishagandhi Auditorium at 6 PM. No Shave November: Kamal Flags Off Motorcycle Awareness Rally

A motorcycle awareness rally, organized by No Shave November India headed by Raru Chempazanthy, was flagged off by Kamal, Chairman, Kerala State Chalachitra Academy. The rally which started from Tagore Theatre, Trivandrum, will have riders travelling to Kasargod and back in eight days, with the mission of raising funds of 15 lakhs for a noble cause – a liver transplantation for a four-year old. Raru, who initiated No Shave November in India, will lead the mission along with Shiny, the first woman rider to ride from Kanyakumari to Himalaya. Raru will ride the entire course, while others including rider club and beard club members will join on the way. The rally will come to a close on December 20. Raru established No Shave November India four years back along with his friend Antos, aiming to help fund cancer treatment. Cinematography Master-Class Today (Dec 10)

At the 23 rd IFFK, renowned cinematographer Anil Mehta, will lead a Master-Class on cinematography today (Dec 10) from 2 PM to 6 PM at Hotel Horizon. The session is being organized by the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy for film students and cinephiles, in association with K R Narayan National Institute Of Visual Science And Arts (KRNNIVSA). The National Award winning cinematographer of ‘ Khamoshi: The Musical ’ (1996), ‘ Lagaan ’ (2001),’  Saathiya ’ (2002),’ Veer-Zaara ’ (2004), and ‘ Jab Tak Hai Jaan ’ (2012) has worked with eminent personalities including Mani Kaul and Majid Majidi . KRNNIVSA, Kottayam, is a prominent film institute in the country and has filmmaker Harikumar as its Chairman.
