The Lifetime Achievement award at the 23rd
International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) will be bestowed upon renowned
Iranian director, film producer, and screenwriter Majid Majidi.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will award the veteran at the inauguration of the fete in Nishagandhi tomorrow (07.12.2018). Majidi is also the Jury Chairman at the IFFK.
In his career spanning over 25 years, Majidi rose to international acclaim with his critically lauded films including ‘Children of Heaven’ (1997), ‘The Color of Paradise’ (1999), ‘The Song of Sparrows’ (2008), which was screened at the 20th edition of the festival.
A total of 34 films including the inaugural film, ‘Everybody Knows’ will be screened on the first day. The seven-day fest which concludes on December 13, will feature over 450 screenings of around 160 films in 13 theatres.
Nishagandhi will host 17 films including the inaugural film, and the midnight-screening ‘Tumbbad’.
