Indian Premiere of Immersive Slow-Burn Thriller Rojo at IFFK



  •       Winner of three top awards at the San Sebastián International Film Festival


Noir-ish retro drama thriller ‘Rojo’ will have its Indian premiere at the 23rd International Film Festival of Kerala, under the World Cinema package. The film directed by the fast-rising Argentinean filmmaker Benjamin Naishtat, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, and went on to receive three top awards – Best Director, Best Actor, and Best Cinematography – at the San Sebastián International Film Festival.
Set in the 70’s, the film lays bare in chilling, yet weirdly absurd style, the complacency and corruption of the pre-coup Argentina. With elements of black comedy, it is the widely critically acclaimed filmmaker’s third feature film. Envisioned by many as one of the most promising directors, Naishtat uses numerous allegories to critique bourgeois hypocrisy and the ruling classes. Rojo is a well-paced – slow, but immensely immersive – with the focus on the presentation. Subtle, yet effective, the film is well-made and stylish, and the upcoming Argentinean director’s craft sure will satiate the cinephiles.
‘Rojo’ will be screened on December 8th at 12:00 PM at the New Theatre Screen 2.

No Shave November: Kamal Flags Off Motorcycle Awareness Rally

A motorcycle awareness rally, organized by No Shave November India headed by Raru Chempazanthy, was flagged off by Kamal, Chairman, Kerala State Chalachitra Academy. The rally which started from Tagore Theatre, Trivandrum, will have riders travelling to Kasargod and back in eight days, with the mission of raising funds of 15 lakhs for a noble cause – a liver transplantation for a four-year old. Raru, who initiated No Shave November in India, will lead the mission along with Shiny, the first woman rider to ride from Kanyakumari to Himalaya. Raru will ride the entire course, while others including rider club and beard club members will join on the way. The rally will come to a close on December 20.
